Shenandoah Valley Out of Darkness Walk
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is holding the Shenandoah Valley Out of Darkness Walk on Saturday, October 16th. Registration and Check-in starts at 9am and the opening ceremony begins at 9:30am. This event is to raise awareness about suicide and to raise funds for suicide prevention. May is Mental Health Awareness Month and currently, The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention needs volunteers to help with this event. Crozet Spring Arts and Crafts Festival
Crozet Spring Arts and Crafts Festival is Saturday, May 8th at 10am and Sunday, May 9th at 9am at Claudius Crozet Park. This event features over 115 jury-selected artists, craft demonstrations, live music, children’s activities, food, and Virginia wine and beer. This event will be safe and socially distanced. Josh Davidson live at Restless Moon Brewing
Josh Davidson will be live at Restless Moon Brewing on May 7th from 6pm to 9pm. Josh Davidson is a local artist from the Blue Ridge Mountains, who takes inspiration from Lynyrd Skynyrd, Tyler Childers, and Chris Stapleton. Josh Davidson plays genres including country, southern rock, and blues. He will be playing both cover songs and originals. Annual Youth Fishing Derby
The 27th Annual Youth Fishing Derby is Saturday, May 1st from 8am to 11am at Gypsy Hill Park. This event is open to youths from the age of 4 to 15. There will be prizes awarded in various categories.This event is free and offers on site registration. Yoga in the Park
New Directions Center will be holding Yoga in the Park in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. This event is Saturday, April 24th beginning at 11am in Gypsy Hill Park. This event is free and will be safe and socially distanced. The session is to focus on yoga as a means of self-care. Be sure to bring your own yoga mat or towel! Save Jane at The Bandstand
Valley Children’s Advocacy Center is holding Save Jane at The Bandstand in Gypsy Hill Park on Saturday, April 24th, beginning at 12pm. This incredibly impactful event will last over 6 hours. Volunteers from around Staunton, Augusta County, and Waynesboro will continuously read the names and ages of the 3,121 children who were reported abused in the Greater Augusta area last year. Because they are minors, their names will be replaced with Jane Doe and John Doe. Through the Save Jane event, Valley Children’s Advocacy Center hopes to show the magnitude and prevalence of child abuse in our community. MandaCyn at Skipping Rock Beer Company
MandaCyn will be live at Skipping Rock Beer Company Saturday, April 24th from 7pm to 10pm. A female duo raised in bluegrass, MandaCyn presents tight harmonies with new takes on old songs and old takes on new songs. They incorporate guitar, fiddle, and vocals into their music. The Spring Eternal Concert Series
Heifetz Ensemble In Residence is performing A New Rhapsody and Mendelssohn’s Blues as the 6th installment in The Spring Eternal Concert Series. The concert will be held at The Blackburn Inn and Conference Center, Sunday April 18th from 2pm to 3:30pm. The first half of the concert will feature the Bach-inspired rhapsody by composer Jessie Montgomery, and the second half will feature Felix Mendelssohn’s final string quartet.
