Roots Music Concert: The Haze & Dacey Collective
Based in Richmond, Virginia, Haze & Dacey revel in lilting melodies, tight harmonies, and compelling rhythms that make toes tap and bodies sway. The duo, comprised of singer-songwriter/guitarist/pianist Kirsten Hazler and bassist/guitarist/vocalist John Dacey, skips nimbly from folk-pop to alt-country to roots-rock to swing. They have been playing together as a duo since 2012, combining their love of playing music with their love of travel, and entertaining audiences at various breweries, wineries, and other venues throughout Virginia and beyond. The Haze & Dacey Collective is what happens when the duo brings additional musicians into the mix to fill out the sound and spice things up. It all started when Haze was planning the production of the upcoming Letters from Gilead album, and recruited several instrumentalists and vocalists to help bring her vision to life. They had so much fun in the studio that they decided to put some full-band live shows together. With the addition of drummer Blee Child and electric guitarist Leslie Williams, the sound veers a little farther from folk and closer to rock, but always hangs on to its organic roots.
