ShenanArts presents Oliver!

ShenanArts presents Oliver!

Book, Music, & Lyrics By Lionel Bart Directed By Jennifer Vaughan ShenanArts presents Oliver!, the classic musical by Lionel Bart based on the 1838 novel Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens. With spirited, timeless songs, such as “As Long as He Needs Me,” “Food, Glorious Food,” “Consider Yourself,” and “Where is Love,” this Tony and Olivier Award-winning show is widely hailed as a musical theater masterpiece by actors and audience members alike. Oliver! tells the story of an adventurous young orphan in Victorian England searching for a home and a family. After escaping a wretched existence in a workhouse, Oliver (Jackson Screen) goes to London where he must navigate a seedy underworld of petty theft and violence. He finds acceptance among a band of young pickpockets led by the conniving, but charismatic, Fagin (Jonathan Erdman). When accused of a crime he did not commit, Oliver is rescued by a kind and wealthy gentleman, Mr. Brownlow (Randy Brooks). Brownlow offers Oliver the family he longs for, but Oliver is kidnapped by Fagin’s sinister henchman, Bill Sikes (Sam Kauffman). Caught in the middle is Sikes’ warm-hearted girlfriend Nancy (Samantha Cadieux), who tries to help Oliver with tragic results. Performances of Oliver! are May 13-15 and 20-22. Friday and Saturday shows start at 7 pm, Sunday matinees are at 3 pm. Tickets are $12-$18 and are available online at www.shenanarts.org. Tickets are also available at the ShenanArts box office approximately 30 minutes prior to each performance.
