Frontier Culture Museum Lantern Tours

This year we will be going back to using both sides of the museum. With skits in the English, Irish, and German houses, as well as the 1820s and 1850s farm. Tours run approximately 2 hours and include a mile of walking. Please wear weather appropriate clothes and comfortable shoes. Lantern Tours will run from December 15 – 18 & December 21 – 23. Tours run every half-hour starting at 5:00 PM and the last one goes out at 8:30 PM. Tickets are $19 for anyone over 6, $9 children (2-5), and under 2 are free.

2nd Annual Mary Baldwin University Holiday Festival

The Annual MBU Holiday Festival celebrates the beginning of this festive season with a diverse array of holiday music featuring MBU students, faculty, staff and more. This event will also feature various MBU ensembles such as: choir, jazz combo, concert band, percussion ensemble and vocal soloists. Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Jr.

Please come join our dedicated students for their performance of Disney’s Beauty & the Beast, Jr. The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self.

“A Storybook Christmas” 2022 Staunton Christmas Parade

“The Staunton Christmas Parade has been a holiday tradition for decades,” said Greg A. Beam, SDDA Executive Director “and last year the SDDA, along with the countless spectators lining the streets of downtown enjoyed the successful return of the parade which included over 106 organizations and businesses as participants. We are looking forward to families and friends joining us again this year as the parade makes its way through downtown Staunton, Monday, November 28 beginning at 7:00PM!” The SDDA Promotions Committee has selected “A Storybook Christmas” as the theme for the 2022 Staunton Christmas Parade. The Staunton Christmas Parade is organized by the SDDA with support from the Staunton Kiwanis Club. As marshals of the parade, the Staunton Kiwanis Club members coordinate the pre-parade lineup, as well as assist with keeping the parade moving and on schedule. The parade begins on West Frederick Street in downtown Staunton. The inclement weather date for the Staunton Christmas parade has been set for Monday, December 5, 2022.

Two Gentlemen of Verona

Treehouse Shakespeare Ensemble presents William Shakespeare’s The Two Gentlemen of Verona. Transported into the world of 1970s Italy, our production is set against a backdrop of nationwide turmoil juxtaposed by the global free love movement. As Valentine and Proteus travel from their childhood home of Verona to the metropolis of glamorous Milan, they must reconcile loyalty to a lifelong friendship with personal desire. In this chaotic but hope-filled world of revolution and possibility, our young lovers – Proteus, Valentine, Sylvia, and Julia, will discover who they are and what they stand for. Join Treehouse Shakespeare Ensemble, an MFA Shakespeare and Performance Company based out of Mary Baldwin University, November 18th and 20th at MBU at the Wharf, located at 19 West Johnson St., Staunton VA. The 12 Dates of Christmas

This heartwarming one-woman play offers a hilarious and modern alternative to the old standards of the holiday season. After seeing her fiance kiss another woman at the televised Thanksgiving Day Parade, Mary’s life falls apart — just in time for the holidays. Over the next year, she stumbles back into the dating world, where “romance” ranges from weird and creepy to absurd and comical. It seems nothing can help Mary’s growing cynicism, until an unexpected friendship brings a new outlook on life and love.
