James and the Giant Peach
The Wayne Theater is hosting James and the Giant Peach performed by their dedicated students. Actors will love playing the outlandish characters and performing brand new material from Broadway. Skirt Project Presents Brunch with Beauties
Brunch with Beauties is a Networking & Charity Event for ALL women who want to embrace the mission of The Skirt Project – to encourage & empower ALL women! The Skirt Project is a collective space for women to inspire one another with uplifting stories and selfless encouragement. Read more about The Project here. The event will consist of a variety of speakers, vendors, catered brunch, mimosas, a skirt project fashion show (NEW this year!!), door prizes, and more!!! Proceeds from the event will go to The American Cancer Society in honor of Amanda’s Great Aunt and Grandmother. Nancy Patterson, (Great Aunt), passed away from Brain Cancer in January of 2022 and Ann McDaniel, (Grandmother), currently suffers from Stage 4 Breast Cancer. No matter your size, shape, age, race, or stage of life – every woman deserves to let themselves SHINE – So let’s CELEBRATE!
Staunton Winter Market
Every Saturday through the end of March from 9AM until 12 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church on the corner of Frederick and Washington Streets visitors can find broccoli raab, fiery sprouts, silky spinach, earthy mushrooms, sparkling jam, dreamy chocolates, crusty sourdoughs, succulent sausage, fresh eggs, stinky cheeses and more at the Staunton Winter Market.
Shakespeare Uncorked!
Saturday March 18 at 6:30 & 7 PM Accordia Staunton is hosting Shakespeare Uncorked! at the Blackfriars Playhouse for an animated and fun tasting, featuring wines from their shop around the corner on Beverley Street. This is a pre-show event before the performance of Eurydice at 7:30 PM. You can also check out the current Greek menu offering at Accordia – celebrating the performance of Eurydice by Sarah Ruhl. Tickets are $25 and includes a souvenir glass. **All participants must be at least 21 years of age.
Queen City Women’s Day
Saturday March 11th is Queen City Women’s Day and this is a pop-up event featuring and showcasing women. You can find the following pop-ups at the event: • Queen City Games & Gifts, which sells women-made art and gifts will host a pop-up from infant and children’s clothing boutique Lillybit Cottage. A portion of their sales will support the Valley Children’s Advocacy Center and its work helping child survivors of sexual abuse, physical abuse, severe neglect, and witness to violence. • Essentially Zen will offer henna sessions from Alyssa The Glitter Bee. Also at Essentially Zen, Traci Got Rocks Jewelry can professionally inspect and clean your favorite jewelry. • Accordia Staunton is holding an International Women’s Day Celebration – Stories & Blues Music. Where Mary Kathrine Froehlich will speak about peace cycle bags from Haiti, dignity to women, recycling of plastic, and more from (4:30-6:30 p.m.) There will also be Live blues music by Kiz Lisa G. Carter (7-9 p.m.) • At Burrow & Vine Visitors can see artist Noelia Nunez ART painting live, Jewelry artists S.E.W What Bead Company and Anam Cara Clay Goods will also be onsite. • An Art Market at Redbeard Brewing (noon- 5 p.m.) featuring numerous women owned pop-ups • Redbeard Brewing will also host the Queen City Women’s Day After Party with The Hot Mamas Trio (9-11 p.m.) For more information and a list of women owned businesses in downtown Staunton you can visit the SDDA website at visitstaunton.com
