Fundraiser for Greater Shenandoah Valley Out of the Darkness Walk

This Wednesday at Open Mic at Queen City Brewing, there will be a fundraiser for the upcoming Greater Shenandoah Valley Out of the Darkness Walk. Again this year, Cheesesteak Scenarios will be cooking up their amazing food starting at 5pm and will be supporting our efforts to raise awareness about suicide prevention as they help us raise funds. Saturday, October 7th from 7-9PM Jack and Davis Reid (Grandsons of the Statler Brothers) are hosting a concert benefiting the Staunton-Augusta YMCA's Annual Giving Campaign at the Weyers Cave Community Center. There will be concessions, a cake/dessert auction, door prizes and more. Tickets available for sale at the front desk of the Staunton-Augusta YMCA for $20 per person. The Arcadia Project and Visulite Cinema are partnering to host Music at the Movies with doors opening at 6:30PM and music beginning at 7PM. Mallory McKendry a veteran entertainer, and also a member of the Hot Mama’s, will bring a set of her own tunes. She will introduce the film The 40-Year-Old Version, about down-on-her-luck NY playwright Radha Bland who reinvents herself as a rapper, vacillating between the worlds of hip hop and theater in order to find her true voice. Individual tickets are $20 and a portion of the proceeds go to support the Arcadia Project.

The Friends of the Staunton Library Book Sale

The Friends of the Staunton Library Book Sale will be held at the Gypsy Hill Park Gym. Monday night is open to current Friends of the Staunton Library members only, and the sale is then open to the public Tuesday – Friday. You can shop thousands of used books, movies and more at this annual fundraiser for the Friends of the Staunton Library. Most items are priced at $1 or less. Cash and check accepted.
