Attendees will Paint a landscape and then add embroidery to accent their masterpiece! Brigitte Huson of Brigitte Marie Fine Arts will demonstrate how to create a multi-dimensional work of art. Saturday, April 27th from 10am until 11:30am The American Shakespeare Center is hosting “Reimagining Love: A Midsummer Night’s Dream Workshop.” This is a workshop for dreamers aged 12-18, (parents are welcomed as well) where participants can delve into the intricate relationships of Shakespeare’s iconic play as they dissect the text and engage in thought-provoking discussions of love and relationships. Participants will also discover the power of healthy boundaries and respect in all relationships while reshaping the tale of Helena and Demetrius to foster respect and understanding. Thursday, April 25th from 7-9pm, NU Productions and The SolArt Center are presenting the Virginia premiere of Verbatim Verboten: The Invasion-of-Privacy Revue. The show is an ever-changing revue of secret recordings and transcripts from celebrities, politicians, royals, and everyday people, performed verbatim, warts and all. With a collection of over 300 scripts, no show is alike, and every show is completely uncut and performed by 6 performers and one MC. Tickets are $15. Staunton Emerging Artist Showcase

The Staunton Augusta Art Center announces the opening of the Staunton Emerging Artist Showcase, running from April 5 – May 11 in the downtown galleries. This exciting and unique showcase features the multi-media artwork of over a dozen emerging artists, a next generation of local artists at various stages in their artistic careers who redefine the cultural landscape within their community. These artists reflect remarkable backgrounds and cross-cultural roots. An opening night reception will be held in the galleries on Friday, April 5 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. This exhibition is proudly sponsored by the Staunton-Augusta-Waynesboro Habitat for Humanity ReStore whose staff and volunteers support the creative work of local artists and affordable housing. Openings are FREE and ALL are welcome.

The entire month of April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and The Valley Children’s Advocacy Center’s goal is to spark dialogue, inspire action, and raise awareness around the issue of child abuse throughout the local community.
