This fall, the Staunton Augusta Art Center will host a groundbreaking exhibition entitled “Moonhouse: Altar of Light” This exhibition promises to captivate and challenge the local art community. Opening on September 20th, 2024, the exhibition brings together two acclaimed artists—Piper Groves and Kathleen Mitchell Johnston—each offering a unique perspective on the complex relationships between material, light, structure, and abstraction.

Staunton Jams: Fall Equinox

Staunton Jams is back with a Fall Equinox Jam, hosted by The Judy Chops and supported by a number of Staunton businesses. This free, weekend-long music and art event will take over Staunton’s Wharf area on September 20-22. Look for 16 acts representing a variety of musical styles to appear at the Sunspots Pavilion, Ciders from Mars, Ramulose Ridge Vineyard, and Redbeard Brewing. There’s even a FundRAGER Gala after-party scheduled at the Mill Street Grill. The event will also showcase artists, demonstrations, vendors, silent auctions, food, street performers, and more.

It’s time again for a ROCKIN’ good time in the Valley! The Shenandoah Valley Gem, Mineral & Jewelry Show returns for its 56th annual production, bigger and better than ever! You’ll enjoy educational exhibits from the Shenandoah Valley Gem & Mineral Society plus engaging activities for kids and demonstrations to foster interest in nature-related hobbies. This event is being held at the Augusta Expo Center.

The Friends of the Staunton Library Book Sale will be held Monday, October 7 – Friday, October 11 in the Gypsy Hill Park Gym at 116th Regimental Road in Staunton. Monday night is open to current Friends of the Staunton Library members only, and the sale is then open to the public Tuesday – Friday. What treasures will you find this year? Shop thousands of used books, movies and more at this annual fundraiser for the Friends of the Staunton Library. Most items are priced at $1 or less. Cash and check accepted. All proceeds support library events, services, and improvements. Full Schedule: • Monday, October 7, 5 – 7 p.m. : Preview Night, limited to current Friends of the Staunton Library members only. Join at the door or online • Tuesday, October 8 – Thursday, October 10, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.: Open to the public. • Friday, October 11, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.: Bargain bag sale starts at 11 a.m. Please bring your own bags or boxes for your purchases. The Run the Runway 5K is a family-friendly event beginning with a 1K Fun Run for children ages 3-12 at 2pm and a 5K on the taxiway and runway beginning at 2:30pm. This professionally chip-timed event will offer a unique race opportunity on a real airport runway and is a perfect fit for runners, walkers and families at all fitness levels. The course is flat and completely paved making it stroller and wheelchair friendly. Please leave pets at home for this event; animals will not be allowed to participate.
