WQSV’s 4th Spring Chicken Salad-Off

Come join us at Ciders From Mars on Saturday, May 17 as WQSV hosts its fourth annual chicken salad competition! Three judges will conduct a blind tasting of Staunton’s finest salad submissions with a “people’s choice” award as well. Think your chicken salad has got what it takes? We’d love for you to compete! The top winners will receive gift cards to local businesses, cool WQSV swag, and trophies/medals. Tasting starts at 5PM, winners announced at 6:30PM Hosted by Randy Ruse Music by DJ L3D All proceeds benefit your favorite community radio station!

Women’s Self-Defense Seminar

Olivia Huffman, a blue belt Brazilian jiu-jitsu instructor at Total Defense Martial Arts, will be teaching a women’s self defense seminar. She will be going over grab defenses, hair grab defenses, and making base to create space. Cost of the event is $20, with all proceeds benefiting the New Directions Center of Staunton. No prior clay experience necessary! Creating mugs using a pottery wheel takes practice and experience. Using hand building techniques, however, even a beginner can create a mug to be proud of! You will choose a glaze color from several options and pick up your glazed and fired mugs 1-2 weeks later. Looking for something fun to do with the kiddies? Head on over to the Waynesboro Public Library on Saturday, March 15 for a Kids’ Nerf Battle. Come to the library from 2:00 to 3:30 for pizza and a Nerf battle in the stacks. Nerf N-Series Agility blasters, Rival XVIII-500 blasters, and ammo will be provided, or feel free to bring your own. Ages 6-12. Registration required. Parental consent form required.
