March Madness Comedy Showcase

Saturday, March 22, SolArt Center presents March Madness Comedy Showcase Laugh at the madness of March with 5 Virginia comics, hosted by Travis Valle and featuring Janie Chapel, Mike Oddo, Hedi Sandberg, and Heather Hill. All ages are welcome, but the evening will include adult topics and language. Doors open at 6:30.

Hand Build a Set of Mugs with Staunton Clayground

No prior clay experience necessary! Creating mugs using a pottery wheel takes practice and experience. Using hand building techniques, however, even a beginner can create a mug to be proud of! You will choose a glaze color from several options and pick up your glazed and fired mugs 1-2 weeks later. Kids’ Nerf Battle

Looking for something fun to do with the kiddies? Head on over to the Waynesboro Public Library on Saturday, March 15 for a Kids’ Nerf Battle. Come to the library from 2:00 to 3:30 for pizza and a Nerf battle in the stacks. Nerf N-Series Agility blasters, Rival XVIII-500 blasters, and ammo will be provided, or feel free to bring your own. Ages 6-12. Registration required. Parental consent form required.

Meet up at the Staunton shop and run to the park, include the gym lot and back to get your 3.14 miles! Followed by feasting on pie! This event is free & fun!

Irish Road Bowling

Join the Frontier Culture Museum of Virginia and Staunton Parks and Recreation this Saturday, March 8th for Irish Road Bowling. Irish road bowling has been played in the Irish countryside since the 1600s. Its origins are unclear-perhaps it was brought to the Emerald Isle from England by weavers in the new textile industry, or perhaps from Holland by the troops of William of Orange, or maybe it began when Irish patriots robbed small English cannonballs and rolled them home by light of a full moon. Irish troops traditionally have played road bowling wherever they were stationed around the world.

Three Notch’d Road Baroque “The Seven Last Words of Christ”: Haydn in Cádiz

Three Notch’d Road: The Virginia Baroque Ensemble closes its 2024-25 season with Haydn’s Lenten masterpiece “The Seven Last Words of Christ” performed on period instruments. Haydn’s meditative masterwork was premiered in Spain on Good Friday 1787 and arranged for various instrumental and vocal combinations. Three Notch’d Road has chosen the new arrangement for voice and string quartet by José Peris. The concert will include Aisslinn Nosky and Fiona Hughes, violin; Cristina Prats-Costa, viola; Ben Wyatt, cello; with tenor Benjamin Geier. Notes: The performance will be one hour in length, with no intermission. Pre-concert talk by Susan Treacy 45 minutes before the performance. Tickets online or at the door. Youth/students free.
