WQSV Profile:
Kris Wallace / DJ Adonis
How did you come to be involved with WQSV? And how long have you been involved?
I have been with WQSV since late 2019. I wanted to do radio work, so I emailed the radio station. I got a speedy response and the rest is history.
When did you start DJing? Are there any DJs who influenced you? Or something/someone else who influenced you?
I started DJing when I was 16. As far as other DJs, I have always looked up to Steve Angello and DJ Kool.
Talk about your connection to music/the role music plays in your life?
The best part of listening to music is the goosebumps it gives. Every time I DJ, I get goosebumps, memories to last a lifetime, and most of all joy. Music has taken me to many places and if it wasn’t for the passion I have for music, I would have never have done certain things.
Describe your show.
My show is all about showcasing talent of any kind. However, I do favor musicians. People can use my platform to show the world what they got. I also interview my guests so the viewers can get to know the artist better. If I’m not doing that then I am DJing live on air. When I DJ, I use a wide range of music.
Who are some of your favorite musicians and why?
I like Prince, Micheal Jackson, and Jay-Z because of their drive for music and attention to details.
What is your first memory involving music?
My favorite memory of DJing is finally being able to DJ at this nightclub called Jimmy T’s. At the time, I had been trying to DJ there for 2 years. I never gave up because once I set my mind to something I don’t give up.
What was the first concert you attended?
I think the first concert I went to was a George Clinton concert. I went with my family and had a grand time.
How do you go about building your show?
I build my show around the guest. I want them to be comfortable with opening up on air and showing their work. After all, the show is all about them.
Do you have any particular criteria when selecting music for your show?
No, I want to welcome all kinds of music on my show. That is the joy I find in doing this show.
