Board President Theresa Hoffman reflects that “Like many other five-year-olds, WQSV is really coming into its own and developing quite the personality. We have grown stronger and more imaginative than ever before, all thanks to our supportive community who embraces us and our amazing volunteers and generous donors who sustain us.”
Ben Leonard, General Manager, echoed that sentiment. “We couldn’t be more grateful for our members and contributors, as well as an incredibly talented group of volunteer DJs who help provide our unique programming each week. We’re looking forward to hosting a great birthday party event for the station once it’s safe to get everyone together again.”
The Staunton Media Alliance, of which WQSV is the primary project, was founded in 2012 by Tom DuMontier. Following an intensive crowdfunding campaign, the station raised the necessary funds to qualify for the Staunton Downtown Development Association’s Bright Re-Wired grant for new businesses in 2015. The station’s achievement in maintaining 24/7 broadcasting from its studio on Frederick Street over the past five years, is testament to the love and support they have received from its listeners and contributors in the Staunton-Augusta community.
